Roedean School Aquatic Centre

Supporting Future Excellence

At Roedean, we believe that sport is more than just an activity, it is a key pillar of our comprehensive approach to education. We are committed to nurturing well-rounded students who excel in all aspects of life, including academics, culture, and sport. Our plan for an Aquatic Centre is a testament to our commitment, and we invite you to support us in bringing our vision to life.

We pride ourselves on providing an outstanding aquatics programme across water polo, diving, and swimming and our girls have consistently achieved podium positions at key events.

The Roedean School Water Polo Prestige Cup

Since 2011,  Roedean School has hosted the Water Polo Prestige Cup, a social development programme founded by Ms Sandy Harper and former Executive Head, Mrs Mary Williams. The event continues to host first team water polo players across Gauteng who go head-to-head for the honour of winning the Water Polo Prestige Cup.

The primary aim of the competition is not so much rooted in sporting success but to drive community development through partnerships with a sustainable impact on both transformation in sport and water safety. All schools who participate in the Water Polo Prestige Cup are required to adopt an under-resourced school and share their resources and facilities to support the accredited Learn-To-Swim Programme throughout the year.

A landmark development

The Aquatic Centre is set to be a world-class facility that seamlessly integrates with the rich heritage and architecture of the school. Our architects have been entrusted with the exciting challenge of designing a space that reflects both tradition and innovation. The centre will boast:

  • A light, airy and transparent structure that invites natural light and connects with the surrounding landscape.
  • Thoughtfully designed facades that break down the visual mass, creating a harmonious blend with the school’s aesthetic.
  • Sculptural elements, such as the diving boards, which turn functional features into works of art, adding visual interest to the space.

A facility built for excellence and progress

Designed to meet the needs of our pupils, athletes and community, the Aquatic Centre will include:

  • State-of-the-art changing rooms and storage facilities.
  • A north-facing terrace for casual seating, perfect for spectators and families.
  • A new tuck shop to cater for events and daily activities
  • Two elevated judging and viewing platforms to enhance the competition experience.
  • A direct link to the existing gym, creating a cohesive athletics hub.

In keeping with Roedean’s sustainability objectives, the center’s roof will be equipped with solar panels, reducing our environmental footprint.

Your support will make a difference

This ambitious project is more than just a building, it’s an investment in the future of our students and the community. By supporting the Roedean School Aquatic Centre, you will be part of a legacy of excellence, transformation, and sustainability for generations to come.

Your sponsorship or donation will directly contribute to creating a facility that inspires our future champions, fosters teamwork, and enriches the lives of our students. Naming rights, recognition opportunities and other benefits are available if you wish to participate in this high-profile project.
