Partnerships that make a lasting difference
On 9 October 2026, more than 100 golfers gathered at Parkview Golf Club for the Roedean Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Golf Day, raising over R100,000 through the collective generosity of businesses, families, friends and supporters of the School.
The success of the occasion was not defined by participation alone, but by the many contributions that made it possible. Businesses sponsored holes, parents donated prizes and event collateral, volunteers gave their time, and golfers purchased two-ball and four-ball entries, many inviting friends, colleagues and business associates to join them.
Roedean also extends its sincere appreciation to Bidvest, FNB, TechPlo, iOCO, Capitol Caters and PCE Legacy for their valued sponsorship and support, alongside every individual who contributed towards making the event a success.
Whether through financial sponsorship, donations, volunteering or participation, each contribution played a meaningful role in achieving this fundraising milestone.
Together, these gestures transformed a day on the fairways into a collective achievement, demonstrating the strength of a community united by a shared purpose and a commitment to supporting the School’s continued development.
Beyond the friendly competition and camaraderie, the occasion reflected something far more meaningful: the willingness of a community to come together, contribute what it can and support a School whose future continues to be shaped by generations of involvement.
The PTA: Bringing community and purpose together
The success of the Golf Day offers a compelling example of the PTA’s broader purpose: translating community involvement into meaningful initiatives that contribute to the School’s continued growth and development.
More than a platform for parent engagement, the PTA creates opportunities for individuals to become active participants in the life and continued development of the School.
Through fundraising events, partnerships and community-driven initiatives, the PTA generates additional support for the School, complementing broader institutional investments and other fundraising efforts.
These contributions form part of a collective commitment to ensuring that the School continues to provide an enriching educational environment that responds to the needs of today’s students while remaining relevant and fit for purpose for future generations.
The Golf Day brought this purpose into focus, demonstrating how an occasion centred on recreation and connection can also become an opportunity to contribute towards something greater.
It is through moments such as these that the relationship between a school and its community extends beyond participation, becoming one of shared responsibility, generosity and lasting commitment.
A shared achievement worth celebrating
Reflecting on the occasion, Thabiso Madiba, Chair of the Roedean PTA, described this year’s Golf Day as the most successful in the series hosted to date.
“This has been our most successful Golf Day yet, and that is a reflection of the incredible generosity and commitment of our community. I am deeply grateful to our sponsors, participating golfers, parents, volunteers and everyone who contributed to making this event possible. What makes this occasion particularly meaningful is knowing that, beyond the enjoyment of the day, we are collectively contributing towards something much greater than ourselves: the future of our School and the generations of girls who will follow.”
His reflections underscore the significance of the occasion, not simply as a successful fundraising event, but as an example of what becomes possible when individuals and organisations work towards a common purpose.
The gathering also created opportunities for parents, businesses and friends of Roedean to build relationships beyond the school environment, reinforcing the sense of belonging that remains central to a strong and engaged school community.
A community that gives today and shapes tomorrow
The Roedean PTA Golf Day serves as a reminder that the strength of a school community is reflected not only in the occasions it celebrates together, but also in its willingness to contribute towards a shared future.
The School that exists today has been shaped by generations of families, educators, supporters and partners who have invested their time, resources and expertise in its development.
That tradition of giving and involvement continues through initiatives such as the Golf Day, which form part of the wider collective effort to support Roedean’s continued growth.
To everyone who participated, sponsored, donated, volunteered or helped bring the occasion to life, thank you for demonstrating what community looks like in action.
Your generosity and involvement are a reminder that meaningful contributions do not always begin with grand gestures. Sometimes, they begin with a simple invitation to participate, an opportunity to connect or a shared afternoon on the fairways.
Because the true strength of a school community lies not only in what it achieves together today, but in the opportunities, it helps create for generations yet to come.
